Archaeology in the Classroom * (Under construction)
Archaeology in the Classroom is designed to bring interactive archaeology programs to students of all ages. The study of archaeology can be used as a pathway to teach students about science, math, social studies, literature, and our shared cultural heritage. An Archaeology in the Classroom program includes a brief overview of what archaeologists do, what archaeology is, and hands-on activities to reinforce archaeological concepts. The Archaeology in the Classroom experience can be custom tailored to each class in order to deliver a presentation that meets your students’ needs and interests. Project Archaeology
Project Archaeology is an educational organization dedicated to teaching scientific and historical inquiry, cultural understanding, and the importance of protecting our nation’s rich cultural resources. They are a national network of archaeologists, educators, and concerned citizens working to make archaeology education accessible to students and teachers nationwide through high-quality educational materials and professional development.
Two SCAPOD co-founders participated in the Project Archaeology's Leadership Academy and are Project Archaeology Master Teachers. SCAPOD partners with the SCDNR Heritage Trust Program to provide workshops for educators each year. Professional development credit can be earn by attending Project Archaeology workshops. David Rumsey Map Collection
The David Rumsey Map Collection contains more than 150,000 maps and focuses on rare 16th through 21st century maps of North and South America, as well as maps of Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, and the world. The collection includes atlases, wall maps, globes, school geographies, pocket maps, books of exploration, maritime charts, and more. Items range in date from about 1550 to the present.

The Archaeology Education Clearinghouse is a combined effort of the Archaeological Institute of America, the Society for American Archaeology and the Society for Historical Archaeology. It is dedicated to promoting the use of archaeology in classrooms and interpretive settings.
